Highland Park Community College, 1985 and 2012

In 1975, a major fire ripped through a wing of the Highland Park High School, destroying a two-story gym and the swimming pool underneath. In 1985 the wing was rebuilt as a performing arts space for the community college, which had taken over the building after the high school moved out in 1978. Underneath the floor is the original swimming pool, which was sealed off and left empty. The school closed in 2009 due to financial problems.
