1967: Storefronts on 12th Street Burn

Firefighters work to put out fires along 12th Street, under protection by Police and National Guard troops. Both sides of 12th Street were badly damaged by fires deliberately set during the riots, and were left empty for years afterwards. Redevelopment of the area didn't begin until the 1980's, when the street was widened and new residential housing was built.
