Caroline Crosman Alternative High School

Crosman Alternative was a "non-traditional, African-centered" school for students that were one to two years behind their classmates. Built in 1911, the school was expanded in 1921 and further renovated in the 80's.

In 2007, it was decided that Crosman would close as part of the DPS realignment plan. Among the reasons cited for its closure were the buildings age, deteriorating roof, doors, windows, heating plant, leaking walls, and cracks in the foundation. The students were moved to nearby Hutchins Middle School, which closed a few years later.
