Opened in 1962 as Knudsen Jr. High School. At some point it was renamed for activist Fredrick Douglass, and was home to an all-male academy. The program eventually outgrew the school, which closed in 2007.
Sometime in the fall of 2009 the schools' anti-vandal system was breached, and Douglass was gutted. The school was demolished in 2015. A nearby school built an athletic field on the site in 2016.
