The Yorkshire is apartment complex on the east side of Detroit consisting of two buildings. The first and smaller one was built in 1918, and bears the name Altmarwin. The second, larger building next door was built in 1927.
Like the neighborhood around it, the Yorkshire is gutted and empty. The upper floors have been badly damaged by water and frost, making the whole building extremely weak. The south wall of the Altmarwin has collapsed onto the ground, exposing three floors of closets and bathrooms.
The buildings are for sale at $175,000 and $600,000, respectively.
2011 Update: The Almarwin was torn down in the spring of 2011.
