Farrand Park Apartments
Farrand Park is one of several large apartment buildings in Highland Park. It appears to have closed in 2009, though I have no confirmed dates. Unlike the nearby Highland Park Towers, the exodus from Farrand appears to have been more orderly and planned, as there are far fewer things left behind.
The building has been damaged by fire in at least two places; one serious blaze on the first floor consumed several rooms, weakened the floor, and left extensive smoke damage.
There are no current plans to renovate the Farrand. While the Highland Park Police are keeping a close eye on the building, the sad reality is that like many other nearby apartment buildings, it will likely fall victim to arson.
