Forrest Island Recycling

Not too many details about this unusual location located off Hamtramck street north of the Poletown GM plant. It was distinctive for its multi-colored glass windowpanes, which wrapped around the north, west, and southern sides.

As of the mid 1990's the building was being used by the Congress Tool & Die Division of the TANN Company. The most recent tenant was Forrest Island Recycling, which operated in the location from 2006 until the company declared bankruptcy in 2010. The buildings on the site were demolished in November of 2011. Construction on a new recycling center started in 2012.
