1967: Fires Along Grand River Boulevard
As authorities lost control of the situation, arson and looting spread from 12th Street to neighborhoods across the city. Above, firefighters battle a blaze at the corner of Grand River and Myrtle on Detroit's West Side. Large parts of the commercial district along Grand River were almost entirely destroyed during the riots.
