The Middle Georgia Raceway is an abandoned race track near Byron, Georgia. From 1966 to 1971, the track hosted nine NASCAR races with winners including Richard Petty and Bobby Allison. In 1970, the Atlanta International Pop Festival was held in a field next to the track, featuring Jimi Hendrix and the Allman Brothers. Over 300,000 attended the concert; Byrons population was around 2,000 at the time. In later years the track was used for special events, concerts, commercial and feature filming, and most recently as a Halloween attraction.
